Jamie Cassell, DVM
Education & Academic Achievement
- Bachelor's degree from Emory & Henry. Graduated Magna Cum Laude.
- Completed his doctorate at Virgnia Tech (Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine) in 1992. While there, Dr. Cassell earned the Dr. Robert F. Fernbaugh Memorial Scholarship based on academic and achievement merit.
Life & Career
As the son of an extension agent, Jamie grew up on a family farm of more than 100 acres in Speedwell, VA. He met his true love, the preacher's daughter, at Grayson County High School. Having worked at Healing Springs through college, he joined Healing Springs as one of the doctors after college. Based on his obvious aptitude for large animal medicine, he was quickly invited to become a partner. Dr. Cassell focuses on large animal medicine. He also continues to run his family farm with his brother Huck. Dr. Cassell is an active member of the Carroll-Grayson Cattle Producers Association.
Bovine Embryonic Transfer
Dr. Cassell's post-graduate work includes extensive training in bovine embryonic transfer. Dr. Cassell and his specially trained staff are competent and equipped for embryo collection, embryo grading, and embryo transfer. Dr. Cassell is listed among the embryo transfer veterinarians with Rafter D Genetics International Embryo Transfer.
Dr. Cassell is a father of four, a devout church goer, and a frequent volunteer coach for the Galax High School athletic programs.
