Jeff Summey, DVM
Dr. Summey brings to Healing Springs a wealth of experience garnered over a long career and a lifetime of working with animals and farms.
Education & Academic Achievement
- In 1979, Jeff attained his Bachelor's Degree at the University of Tennessee. While there, he earned induction into the honor society, Gamma Sigma Delta.
- He completed his doctorate degree at the University of Georgia. While at UGA, he earned Departmental Honors and Recognition for Excellence in Food Animal Ambulatory Services.
Career
Jeff served four years in the Navy. Dr. Summey spent six years serving as the Farm Supervisor for a 3,000 acre farm owned by the University of Georgia. Over his long career he has worked at three veterinary practices. One was in Tifton, Georgia, and one was in Sand Hills, Nebraska. Dr. Summey joined Healing Springs Animal Hospital in 2003. Among the greater assets Dr. Summey brings to Healing Springs are his superlative bedside manner, skills as a general surgeon, and competence at orthopedic surgery.
Personal
Dr. Summey now lives on a century old farm outside of Galax, VA. He and his wife are members of Hillcrest Baptist Church. They can also be found regularly at the Rex Theater as they have become avid Bluegrass and Old Time Music fans.
